WHAT IS ACTION BMX?
Action BMX racing club is a non-profit organization that promotes the Olympic sport of BMX bike racing. Action BMX has been operating since the late 80’s with support from the community, sponsors, volunteers and a strong board of directors. We supply an exciting, fun and afforable phyical activity that the whole familly can do.Action BMX has weekly races organized for riders as young as 3yrs old to races for parents and even grandparents. As a non-profit organisation Action BMX relies on the dedicated volunteers and sponors who ensure each season is a sucess. Our volunteers put in countless hours every season for the betterment of our club, local famillies, as well as the greater community of Surrey. Action BMX runs under the larger umbrella of Cycling BC and follows thier policies and procedures for the discipline of BMX. However Action BMX is responsible for it’s own daily operations.
ABOUT CYCLING BC
Cycling BC is the provincial governing body for the sport of cycling in British Columbia. They represent the full range of disciplines including Road, Track, Cyclo-cross, Mountain Biking, BMX and Para-cycling.
Their main responsibilities include:
•Licensing of Riders, Coaches, Officials and Race Organizers
•Coordination and Development of Race Calendar
•Training of Race Officials
•Certification and Training of Cycling Coaches
•Development of New and Existing Cycling Clubs
•Sanctioning & Insuring of Cycling Races and Events
•Maximizing Participation in Competitive Cycling
•Development of Instructors for Courses and Clinics
•Development of High Performance Athletes
Cycling BC is a not-for-profit association registered under the BC Societies Act and affiliated with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) through our membership in Cycling Canada. Our Board of Directors, elected by our members at the Annual General Meeting, provides policy direction to our senior staff. Other important volunteers who facilitate the workings of Cycling BC include race organizers, coaches, commissaires, instructors and committee members.
Affiliated clubs are not-for-profit groups that exist to organize cycling events for their members, have open memberships, and belong to their members. Each member must hold a current Cycling BC membership.
